PETITION to the Governments

For the immediate cessation of the construction on Palestinian land of the "Apartheid Wall", which is in contradiction to international law

We, the undersigned, are shocked and horrified by the progressive construction of the wall, which is being built by Israel on Palestinian land - hidden almost completely from the public.

What is supposed to bring security for Israel is destroying fertile agricultural Palestinian land only, and is destroying the only source of income of Palestinian farmers. With this construction, over 31 sources of ground water belonging to Palestinian villages are being taken to the Israeli side of the wall, 2,200 tons of olive oil per season expropriatred, the production of 50 tons of fruit and 100,000 tons of vegetables and thus, the existential basis of many Palestinian families are being destroyed. 100 buildings and houses have already been demolished; more are to follow. Approximately 14,000 people in the "buffer zone" between the wall and the Green Line are separated from the West Bank. Access to other forms of earning, medical care and education will be made more and more difficult, i.e. impossible.

Further phases of construction are planned in order t incorporate settlements in the centre of the West Bank (which will cut entire districts in two). The establishment of a viable Palestinian State will thus be made almost impossible.

We should not be silent about these actions! The observance of international and human rights norms must be demanded of Israel as of all other States. We therefore request the British Government to develop initiatives, either on its own or in co-operation with other States, that will require Israel to comply with international law.

We hereby call for an initiative to stop the construction of the wall immediately as well as to return the land to its owners as there can be no peace without justice.
