Messages of Solidarity

from Noam Chomsky
[Mas'haCamp] Chomsky-message of support

Dear friends,
I learned with wonder and excitement about what you have been doing at the Mas'ha camp. It is an inspiring response to the shameful "separation wall" and the cruel regime of violence and oppression of which it is such an ugly symbol. With your courage and dedication you are teaching a lesson that all of us must learn if the human species is to survive very long: that sympathy and solidarity can become a powerful enough force to breach and destroy the miserable walls of separation that are constructed to wall us off from one another, whether they are of stone or words, of bulldozers or lethal weapons. Throughout human history, small actions have often touched the hearts of people who are desperate and frightened, marching towards disaster and seeing no other way. Such actions have awakened understanding, broken barriers, opened a path that led to a much better world. I think you are on that course, and I can only express my deep admiration and hopes that you will succeed in this challenging and difficult effort, and the many more that will have to follow if the cycle of hatred and destruction is to be reversed.
